Denmark: Finding Political Solutions that WORK!

I don't know how many of you feel that speed laws are foolish? Admit it, you're tempted to push the limit whenever you can. You might not even pay much attention to traffic signs cautioning you to slow down or that a decreased speed zone is ahead. Sometimes traffic citations are the way to solve the problem, but the Danish people didn't respond well to that answer (typical Vikings).

The Danes tackled this problem (seriously - no hoax) showing us the way forward. (Adult Theme on a legitimate news program)

  1. WONDERFUL idea. Though I might say the ladies are a tad overdressed.

  2. Could you imagine the outrage if they did that here? LOL! Nice find.

  3. Speaking of speed laws. They're getting waay strict here in SA...so for every kilometer we're over the limit, we have to shell out like R250 (about $35)...and it gets worse. A new demerit system was introduced, which means we have 12 points and for every violation, a couple of points is subtracted. More than 3 violations mean suspension. Sucks but with the animals on the road here, I suppose its necessary :P

  4. Azra- They could set up a system similar to the Danes in South Africa. In order to restore your points, you could volunteer to carry a traffic sign during peak hours...

Are they wild animals on the road or cattle?

Andrew - Some may be outraged, but I'd find myself in agreement with doing something like that in the US.

  5. AARP provides the same service here in my town using male and female volunteers. In our case they seem to be used more like speed bumps.
