A Government Firearms Seizure - Gone Wrong

A walk down memory lane for those interested in seizing firearms from honest American citizens.

Context: The American colonists had formed militias since the 17th century. In the early days it was to respond to Indian attacks. During the French and Indian War, the British mobilized them to fight against the French (See: The War That Made America: A Short History of the French and Indian War by Fred Anderson) As the political situation began to deteriorate in the 1770's, the British Government in America dissolved the Provincial Government in the Massachusetts Government Act

On the morning of April 18, British Major Mitchell of the 5th Regiment of Foot ordered a mounted patrol of about 20 men into the surrounding country to intercept militia messengers who might be out on horseback. This triggered the "alarm and muster" system that the colonists used to bring armed minutemen from their homes to meet a threat.

On April 19, 1775, 700 British Army soldiers under Lieutenant Colonel Francis Smith set out to capture and/or destroy muskets and powder that the Massachusetts militia stored at Concord. If possible, he was to continue on to Worcester where the militia had an even larger magazine. Patriots learned of the British interest in the militia's magazine and most of the powder, shot and muskets had been moved weeks before that unseasonably warm day in April.
The British soldiers that Lieutenant Colonel Smith commanded in this expedition were cobbled together from 11 of Gage's 13 infantry regiments. Major John Pitcairn commanded ten light infantry companies, and Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin Bernard commanded 11 grenadier companies and a battalion of Royal Marines.
 National Park Service map
While many of the redcoats/regular British infantry just followed orders, not all of the British officers were convinced that attempts to disarm their own citizens was a great idea. General Thomas Gage, commanding the 3,000 man British Army in Boston considered himself to be a friend of liberty and attempted to separate his duties as Governor of the colony and as General of an occupying force. Edmund Burke said within the walls of Parliament, "An Englishman is the unfittest person on Earth to argue another Englishman into slavery."

We've all heard about the Colonial intelligence network and the historic signal from the Old North Church - "One if by land and two if by sea."

The first shots were fired just as the sun was rising at Lexington with a regular militia (as opposed to minutemen) under the command of Captain John Parker.
Parker's words are engraved in stone at the site of the battle: "Stand your ground; don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here."
The militia were outnumbered and fell back, and the British soldiers proceeded on to Concord, where they searched for the supplies.

Tory spies told the British where the Colonists had hidden cannon in Concord so the search for weapons was a directed one. When the British arrived at Ephraim Jones's tavern, by the jail on the South Bridge road, they found the door barred shut, and Jones refused them entry. British officers ordered Jones at gunpoint to show where the cannon were buried. The grenadiers smashed trunnions on the cannon and burned the gun carriages.

In a series of engagements that culminated with a fight at the North Bridge in Concord, 500 militia and minutemen who had come in from Acton and other parts of the countryside fought and defeated three companies of the King's troops in a battle in open territory (a stand-up fight).  By this time, about 2,000 militia had come in from the countryside with their numbers swelling even higher.

As the day wore on, more armed Americans began to arrive and inflict heavy casualties on the British force, which had begun a retreat (in order) to Boston. Runners had been sent back for help and the British sent a 1,700 man relief force under Brigadier General Hugh Percy who met the retreating force under Colonel Smith. Both forces came under heavy fire from the militia and executed a tactical withdrawal to the British fortifications at Charlestown.

During this part of the march, the colonists fought where possible in large ordered formations (using short-range, smoothbore muskets) at least eight times. This is contrary to the widely-held myth of scattered individuals firing with longer-range riflesfrom behind walls and fences. Nobody at Lexington or Concord—indeed, anywhere along the Battle Road or later at Bunker Hill—had a rifle, according to the historical records.

By the rude bridge that arched the flood
Their flag to April's breeze unfurled
Here once the embattled farmers stood
And fired the shot heard round the world.

National Firearms Confiscation Map

No, I don't have a pin map to show you, but look at the 2012 Election Results Map by county.

The areas in red have a very high concentration of firearms in private hands. The blue areas have firearms in private hands too, but the concentration isn't as high. There are a number of freaks in the mainstream media and legacy has-beens like ABC's Sam Donaldson who feel that "fly over country" doesn't matter. It's true that the urban concentrations voted for Barack Obama. He won. Good for him. But there is a vast group of people who feel that the Constitution entitles them to own firearms. Most of them live in the part represented as 'red' on the map.

Historical Precedence:
“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?"
"The Organs (government entities) would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” -- Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn (The Gulag Archipelago

Senator Feinstein - Lead the Way

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) would like to see firearms confiscated. I know she doesn't go that far in public, but privately, that would really throw sunshine all over her. I offer Senator Feinstein a challenge. If you want them, why don't you lead the door-to-door charge to take them. There are a lot of red counties in California. Pick one and get started. Take Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) with you in your crusade. Stand on your high ground like Ghandi and disarm your own state peacefully -- but in person. Don't send some police officer to do your dirty work. Show us what you're made of.

President Obama, Firearms Sales Superstar

Why is Barack H. Obama the greatest firearms and ammunition salesman in history? Every time he or his minions declare that they want to restrict firearms ownership, stores can't restock firearms quickly enough. Ammunition becomes scarce because people buy up every last round. It happened when Barack Obama took office in 2009 and it's happening again. I know that to Colt, Ruger, Browning and the other firearms manufacturers, Obama and his ilk are heroes. They keep full employment in the gun and ammo businesses.

Review the Map Another Way

Look at that map once again, and ask yourself why so many people want to own firearms. It's clearly not to commit crimes. If I was going to overlay a high crime map on the country, the highest crime areas would be BLUE not RED. I understand that the inconvenient truth irks our political elite.

Army Reduction Envisioned

A decade of protracted war, tax cuts, and reckless entitlement spending has placed the US government on the precipice of a dreaded "fiscal cliff". President Obama has sparred politically so that he can blame the Republicans, but he's more than happy to reduce the size of the Active-Duty Army to 430,000 soldiers. By fiscal year 2015, over 140,000 soldiers will be looking for a new line of work.

Senator John Kerry (D-MA) expressed profound gratitude for the Army's commitment to service. “The US Army has tirelessly borne the brunt of war over the past decade,” said Kerry, “so if there’s anyone who has plenty of experience in the whole sacrifice department, it’s definitely them.” Senator Kerry went on to thank the Army for its selfless service, but added, “It’s just, well, for 140,000 of you, your services are no longer required.” Kerry was unavailable for further comment, as he was preparing to spend New Year’s Eve at his mansion in the Cayman Islands, on which he pays no taxes.

President Obama (speaking on closed circuit television to the soldiers) assured a few of the soon to be departing soldiers from the 25th Infantry (Tropic Lightning) Division who had been bussed to the gate of his his vacation mansion in Hawaii for the occasion. "I'm sure that the coming summer of recovery will find you all with better paying civilian jobs than those you had in the US Army. I expect to see unemployment dip below 6% this summer. You may be the beneficiaries of 1 million shovel-ready jobs that this third round of trillion dollar stimulus will create."

The Courts are Playing Possum.

Just when you thought that things couldn't get any weirder North Carolina Judge Fred Morrison ruled against the North Carolina tradition of the bringing in the new year by "dropping a possum". The judge said, “Citizens are prohibited from capturing and using wild animals for pets or amusement,”

I guess that rules out pet possums too?

“It ain’t the new year until the possum drops” has been the saying around Brasstown, North Carolina for two decades -- but not anymore. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) complained that the annual tradition was illegal and cruel. So they filed a lawsuit against the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, which had issued a permit for the event every year.

Clay Logan, the owner of  Clays Corner Store – and the organizer of the annual drop explained it this way, “It’s just a lot of good, clean, family fun,” he said. “It seems like everybody always wants to jump on the clean family fun part. If we were all a bunch of drunks down here nobody would probably say nothing about it.”

Logan said they still plan to hold a New Year’s Eve celebration – and their working on an alternative plan. “It’ll either be a stuffed animal or road kill. We’re not gonna break no laws.”

Logan said he just doesn’t understand all the fuss about using a life possum. For years, they put the critter in a decorated cage and lowered him down at the stroke of midnight. Afterwards, they released the possum into the woods.

PETA argued that it was cruel. “That’s a matter of opinion,” Logan said. “He’s (the possum) treated good. Their destiny in life is to be run over,” he said. “So if you don’t get run over in 2012, I’ve extended his life to 2013.”

He said the New Year’s Eve celebration at his store is the one of the highlights of the year for Brasstown – population 240. Last year as many as 3,000 (boozed up participants) attended the festivities.

For PETA, and those of you carnivores, I offer a few possum recipes. You don't need to kill the animal in the wild. As Clay Logan pointed out above, their destiny is to end up as road kill. If you choose to eat a possum found dead on the highway, try to make it a fresh kill.

Gladys Nelson of PETA defends even innocent fun with possums that may
just prolong their lives. Gladys is a vegetarian.

No, I have never personally eaten a possum and don't intend to. However, if it fits your taste and your lifestyle:

Cajun Possum Chili - NUCLEAR HOT !!!

Tomato Sauce (depends on possum)
1 tsp.-1 cup Chili Powder (Depends on Taste and possum)
1 Large possum or 3 small (If you ran over the possum better make it 4)
1 large pot or two large ones if the first isn't enough.
5-10 chili peppers (depends on taste and possum)
5-10 red peppers (depends on taste and possum)
5-10 jalapenio peppers (depends on taste and possum)
How ever much Cayenne Pepper you like, it depends on your taste and possum.
1 tsp. Black Pepper
a pinch of salt
Chili Beans for extra flavor
And whatever other ingredients that are hot and spicy you would like to add.

1. Skin possum(s)
2. Remove internal organs, head, claws, and bones. There is no flavor or use for these. But if you want to add them, Go ahead.
3. Put some tomatoe sauce in the pot(s). Then add the possum.
4. Chop peppers
5. Skip step four if you don't want chopped peppers; it doesn't matter.
6. Put the rest in and let set for a long dang while.
7. Before serving make sure you have enough bread, Milk, and Toliet paper for after dinner.
8. Serve. Enjoy
9. Race for bathroom. Whoever is first will make a large stench. Have enough air freshner.
Serving size of Meal-depends on how much you put in and on the possum.

Possum and Taters

1 young, fat possum
8 sweet potatoes
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon sugar
salt (to taste)

Directions: First, catch a possum. This in itself is excellent entertainment on a moonlight night. Skin the possum and remove the head and feet. Be sure to wash it thoroughly. Freeze overnight either outside or in a refrigerator. When ready to cook, peel the potatoes and boil them tender in lightly salted water along with the butter and sugar. At the same time, stew the possum tender in a tightly covered pan with a little water. Arrange the taters around the possum, strip with bacon, sprinkle with thyme or marjoram, or pepper, and brown in the oven. Baste often with the drippings.

Cool Things for 2013

I've been thinking of things to look forward to in 2013. The country is a mess -- no joy there. But Fleetwood Mac is touring in 2013!

Fleetwood Mac will be embarking on a major 34-city US Tour after a three year break beginning April 4th, 2013. The tour was announced today by the group and Live Nation, the tour’s national promoter.

The Case for buying Unregistered Firearms

(Fox News) The Journal News, a local New York newspaper is drawing the ire of its readers after publishing an interactive map that shows the names and addresses of thousands of residents who have handgun permits.

The online map was published by The Journal News along with an article under the headline: "The gun owner next door: What you don't know about the weapons in your neighborhood." The newspaper obtained, and then published, the names and addresses of pistol permit holders in Westchester and Rockland counties through a Freedom of Information Act request.

They pointed out that the interactive map could make the gun owners a target, but also make clear to would-be robbers which homes do not contain a gun.
"Do you fools realize that you also made a map for criminals to use to find homes to rob that have no guns in them to protect themselves?" One reader wrote on Facebook.
Many gun owners have feared for years that a map of registered firearms would be the roadmap for government confiscation. The Journal News lays out a good case WHY you should buy a firearm from a source such that the firearm did not appear in your name.

NOTE: The Journal News did not publish a list of armed criminals because you can't get that with a Freedom of Information Act request.  They did what most anti-firearms people do, which is to pick on those people who lawfully possess firearms. The Journal News also undoubtedly identified the homes of law enforcement officers because those officers own legal firearms.

The government is irresponsible. The Press and Mainstream Media, which has become the government's creature over the past couple of decades to the point where it is indistinguishable from Big Government, is not trustworthy.

Some will take this as proof that individuals must learn to fend for themselves where Second Amendment Rights are concerned. Somebody needs to write to these liberal hacks at The Journal News and thank them for the wake-up call on Christmas Day.

The Bethlehem Star and the Wise Men

Framing the Story of the Three Wise Men

The dome of Heaven -- the stars in the night sky -- represent a vast celestial clock. Their motions, the time that it took for light to arrive and their mechanics tell the story of the places that exist within the universe. Our piece of it is very small indeed.

Before we lived in vast cities, populated with electric light that out shown all but the brightest stars, mankind looked and wondered. They took note of celestial events and they learned to read the clock with remarkable accuracy. We know of crude astronomical observatories that were built by many cultures and those remain in Chichen Itza, at Stonehenge, in old Babylon (much of it bombed out now) and the remarkable pyramid of Cheops at Giza.

Men, learned in the movements of stars, predicted the birth of Jesus Christ, who had been foretold to be born King of the Jews and they traveled to Jerusalem after the event to meet and bare witness of what they had seen. They didn't arrive to witness the birth, but possibly as much as twelve to eighteen months afterward. In the Bible, Mathew Chapter Two tells us that they arrived "In the days of Herod". There were not three politically correct and racially balanced wise men. A caravan crossing the desert likely was composed of camel tenders, cooks, soldiers, artisans as needed and perhaps traders as well that usually joined travel ventures. So it was that their arrival in Jerusalem aroused notice.

Herod, a vassal of Rome, who ruled by their sufferance, invited the travelers from the East to visit and asked them of their mission. They explained.
"Where is he that is born King of the Jews? We have seen his star in the East and are come to worship him."
There are rumors of a messiah --- there are always rumors of a messiah in the Roman Province of Judea because the Jews are not particularly happy paying tax to Cesar. The Jews are looking for physical deliverance from their Roman conquerors.

Herod went to his own astrologers and they had heard such a prophecy and in Mathew 2, we learn that they had heard of it. Apparently it's common knowledge among the learned. Herod is not learned. He's a politician -- a rich man intent on growing richer. A powerful despot who wanted to keep hold of his power. Having received his answer, Herod asked the wise men when the star appeared. Timing is important to Herod, as the story comes full circle.  The men explain that the stars aligned somewhere less than two years previously.

Herod asked whether or not they found the boy that would become King of the Jews. The wise men say that they have not. Herod instructed for them to come to him and tell him when they had found the child so that he could worship with them.

Now there is a shift in the narrative and the “star in the east” stops being an actual star or astrological collection. It becomes a metaphor for revelation from God. After the conversation with Herod, they are taken to the Jesus -- a toddler by then, they worship him and bring him valuable gifts, which will support his family while they are raising him.

The Dream in Arabic culture is very important. We see this time and time again through history. Likewise with the honest and faithful wise men  from the east, they are told in a dream not to tell Herod what they have found and experienced. They leave Jerusalem, outwardly still looking for He who was born King of the Jews and returned home.

Herod has a problem on his hands and in order to rid his kingdom of rumors, he simply orders all male children under the age of 2 to be murdered. Those who pine for the peace and tranquility in "the past" need to become students of history in order to appreciate the present.

By then Jesus Christ, the messiah who had been prophesied, was no longer in the country. Matthew tells us that his parents, now with the means to do so, took him to Egypt.

You can call it faith, you can call it superstition and it doesn't matter to me how you frame it, but I believe because I choose to do so. And I rarely share that faith on the Internet, but do so now because of the season.

Merry Christmas

Fruitcake - Christmas Eve

You might think from the title of this blog post, that I've come up with a new name for President Obama, who is gleefully anticipating his political victory as the nation slides over the "fiscal cliff". Who would call the President a name like that? It's absurd when you think about it. A fruitcake has nuts.

Yes, I digressed. Back to our theme.

There is only one time each year when people send other people that they actually like, food like a fruitcake (shelf life = that of a Twinkie, if Twinkies still existed, and thanks to their labor union, they don't).

Yes, with the demise of the Twinkie, the only food remaining that will survive the apocalypse and sustain survivors is the fruitcake. That's why people send them. Why else?

Then again, some people may be trying to save our ailing Postal Service because they are frigging heavy as bricks and they are expensive to send. And the fruitcake is one of those gifts that is frequently re-gifted, making it a double dip for the US Postal Service. Those that arrive safely at a home where they may not be re-gifted, often make their way to landfills, there to wait for the apocalypse when zombie scavengers will unearth them - two or three hundred years later - to find that they taste the same as the day that the trash truck hauled them away from the people who tossed them.

I shamelessly stole the YouTube video (below) from Race Bannon's Blog (Race for Justice) because there are pretenders out there who feel that the fruitcake and Twinkies dating back to the ObamaNation years will not be the only thing that will survive the 'end of the world'.

Coke or Pepsi?

The soft drink giants have made vast fortunes catering to the world's craving for sugar and caffeine.  They've elicited the very best (and most expensive) advertising brains on the planet to come up with new and more creative ways to peddle their beverages.

Many people have very serious brand loyalty to Coke and Pepsi (and by extension, their diet/light varieties). I personally feel that Diet Pepsi tastes like cough syrup - and not in a good way, so I too have taken a stand. BUT it seems that Pepsi is about to re-brand Diet Pepsi and they're changing the sweetener to make it a bit appealing in their efforts to unseat Diet Coke. Coke currently sits #1 in the rankings (Diet Coke #2) and Pepsi is at #3. Diet Pepsi is #7,  with $5 billion in sales annually.
PepsiCo said in a statement Sunday that it was adding a "very small amount" of acesulfame potassium "to ensure consistency with every sip." The sweeteners used in Diet Pepsi vary depending on the region of the world. The move to improve Diet Pepsi comes amid a broader push by PepsiCo to boost sales of its flagship soda.
The Pepsi logo looks as if it should be on the tail
of a commercial airplane.
Both Coke and Pepsi will easily cook the tarnish off a penny, making it look new, shiny and bright. I suspect that it doesn't do quite the same thing to your innards. But neither Pepsi or Coke use that strategy to market their beverages.

But there is also international politics involved in the cola wars. Pepsi controls most of the market in the Arab World and only recently sold it's wares in The Small Satan (Israel). In Russia, Pepsi cut a deal with the Soviet System. After the wall fell and the USSR dissolved, Coke came in and is now dominating the market as part of the New Russia.

Pepsi spun off some of it's subsidiary restaurant holdings into Tricon Global Restaurants about a decade ago (still essentially owned by Pepsi) including Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried Chicken, California Pizza Kitchen, Pizza Hut and Stolichnaya Vodka (license agreement).

The Coca-Cola Company only produces a syrup concentrate, which it sells to bottlers throughout the world, who hold Coca-Cola franchises for one or more geographical areas. The bottlers produce the final drink by mixing the syrup with filtered water and sweeteners, and then carbonate it before putting it in cans and bottles, which the bottlers then sell and distribute to retail stores, vending machines, restaurants and food service distributors.

Genuine Coca-Cola is still available at Costco in glass bottles, manufactured in Mexico - with sugar rather than corn sweetner to make it taste good. An ice cold Coke on the back of my throat when it's hot leaves Pepsi in the dust. And we all know that Santa and the crew in the north pole (including polar bears) prefer Coke.

Is "Too Sexy" a Crime? (Rule 5)

Suzy Favor-Hamilton

It's possibly somewhere short of being illegal but the Iowa Supreme Court holds that you can be fired for it -- and it portends badly for people (like me) who are irresistible.
(Published December 22, 2012 -- Associated PressThe Iowa Supreme Court says a dentist did not commit gender discrimination when he fired an attractive female assistant he viewed as a threat to his marriage. The court ruled Friday that a boss can fire an employee he considers an "irresistible attraction," even if the employee has done nothing wrong.
Justices rejected a discrimination lawsuit filed by Melissa Nelson, who was fired by Fort Dodge dentist James Knight in 2010. Nelson had worked in Knight's office for 10 years. She and Knight eventually started texting outside work about personal matters. Knight's wife, who also worked at the office, found out and demanded Nelson's firing.
Suzy Hamilton - Advertisement
This may be why 44 year old former Olympic Runner, Suzy Hamilton (left and above right) became a prostitute. There was simply no other option to her. (The Smoking Gun) Based on the article in The Smoking Gun, which was picked up by other news organizations, her husband, Mark Favor, was aware that she has been a high priced call girl for the past year, working major cities in America for $600 per hour.

What kind of a world is it where the beautiful can be fired for being themselves? A life of crime, selling your body would seem to be the only way out of this hell. You can find the photos Suzy Favor Hamilton posted on her escort website (HERE). After she was "outed", Suzy Hamilton was forced from her job as a prostitute -- so even that line of work would seem to elude her, though she reportedly made a good living that her husband shared by way of proceeds that went toward lifestyle.

What's left for irresistible men and women who need to earn a living now that a state supreme court ruled against us? It would seem that the Suzy Hamilton precedent is in play -- in that being a high priced hooker is beyond our grasp? Is "professional blogger" the only way out for  -- us?

The Day of the Apocalypse

I saw a dolphin flying upwards this morning and took it as an ominous sign. Oddly enough, the dolphin was singing:

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish

The world's about to be destroyed
There's no point getting all annoyed
Lie back and let the planet dissolve (around you)

My daughter commented that Santa had come early because of a clatter of reindeer hooves on the roof. I told her those were the hooves of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

Weather Report

This is likely my last blog entry. Billions of years from now, a group of intrepid alien archeologists  will recover and download the Internet to determine what mankind was like. How poetic (yes I watched Stephen Spielburg's somewhat depressig AI movie...)

Everyone talks about how the Maya knew that the end was coming in 2012. I'm not sure whether they ran out of rock to engrave on or if tomorrow is the day, but it's best to sign off on a positive note for the sake of the alien archeologists.

The Winter Solstice Season

h/t Dale
I've been reflecting on what Dale published in his blog (LINK) and I responded, setting out a partial list of things that are wrong with Christmas (or is it Xmas?) that I am bursting to share with you this joyous PROGRESSIVE Winter Solstice Season.

(a) It's simply offensive to PETA to see reindeer relegated to a servile position.

(b) The holiday tree - is a symbol of American destruction of the environment and is possible a cause of climate change. It needs to go. Axial tilt IS the reason for the Season.

(c) Santa is obese, and you know how Michelle Obama (she of the exceptionally wide ass) feels about that! Those that wish to honor Santa in their own way should leave a stick of celery, not a cookie, and a glass of tepid tap water, not hot coca.

(d) Santa is also white, and that demeans people of color/colored people everywhere. The symbol of a rich elderly white man is a thing of the past -- now being remedied through a combination of taxation and ObamaCare death panels.

(e) Democrats are personally threatened by Santa's refusal to treat spoiled children equally. We're ALL winners aren't we - despite our conduct??

(f) There has never been a discussion of an elves' labor union. Since the North Pole is obviously a right to work zone, it needs to be boycotted. There should be a picket line around each shopping mall where Santa appears and around every church party in America. How can we have embraced this enslavement of Little People for so long? Somebody needs to make a phone call to the Little People's Rights Organization. This has been compounded by the insensitivity of Hollywood in releasing "The Hobbit" at this time of year.

(g) Where is the discussion of Kwanza and its place in our national tradition (forget that it was started by Maulana Karenga a professor in California, in the mid 1960's)? And where is our celebration of the Druids - now extinct for the most part - who found joy in the Winter Solstice and danced naked under the moon. The idea of a naked Santa holding a Kwanza candle dancing under the winter moon is disturbing...

(h) And didn't the Romans deal with Christ in their own unique way? Why are we bringing that up again? It's time to pound a few more nails in that old rugged cross and move on...

(i) I reject the mention of the world "Holiday" because it is simply a derivation of "Holy Day" (note to Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chaffee - it the state tree should be called a SEASONAL TREE - not a Holiday Tree). You'll note that Governor Chaffee caved to the Jewish lobby and put a menorah next to the (was Holiday - is Seasonal) tree in celebration of Chanukah, a religious holiday. Aren't we separating ourselves from religion in Rhode Island, Governor Chaffee?

And if you found yourself agreeing with ANY part of what I wrote, you too have joined our nation of whining, screwed up boobs. I'm disgusted with what we have become as a society of pandering fools to every stupid, transitory notion of faux political correctness.

Merry Christmas

The Benefits of Gun Free Zones

I was worried that President Obama would push hard for gun control measures, but was relieved to read this on Fox News
WASHINGTON – President Obama will tap Vice President Biden to lead an administration-wide effort looking at gun control and other measures in the wake of the Connecticut school shooting last week.
Vice President Joe (Don't mess with Joe) Biden is the same person who predicted four "summers of recovery" that didn't happen and was the uber jobs czar. As overseer of the Jobs Act of 2011, he was the one who was supposed to manage the creation of a million shovel ready jobs (at the cost of 100,000 per job) and we saw something like 84 part time jobs created instead. Joe Biden (per ABC News) was the man who had been tapped by the Administration to fix the political process in Iraq. There was also the Biden Crime Bill of 2007 (before he became VPRES) and that worked out just peachy. He fixed our foreign affairs when in the Senate as head of that committee. The list of noteworthy achievements just goes on and on and in the same way that Spiro Agnew isn't well remembered by history as a US Vice President, neither will Biden be.

Putting Joe on the job means that the president wants the matter kicked down the road to be dealt with on another day by another Democrat.
"Gun free zones are simply killing grounds for mass murderers."
- Ted Nugent
You can't build a "gun free zone" where everyone is a target and tries desperately to pretend that they're not. A gun free Potemkin Village is still a Potemkin Village. Having kids draw pictures of butterflies, rainbows and unicorns at school and then sending them home to play violent video games will not change anything -- no matter how much brainwashing the government tries in school. Even Obama knows this and understands that making high capacity magazines illegal simply means that metal shops nationwide will be turning them out in the millions. Prohibiting alcohol (Volstead Act) didn't work either.

The school shootings (and there have been several tragedies in recent memory) have all taken place in "gun free zones" as mandated by federal law, by state law and by school district policy. The firearm used by David Codrea was a registered firearm - therefore closing the gun show loophole wouldn't have impacted the result.

Politely Armed Swiss Society

I'm part Swiss, even though I am an American citizen, I qualify to be a Swiss citizen as well, so factor that into my rant while keeping my bias in mind.

Many foreigners find the Swiss mania for defense and firearms ownership to be Quixotic. I do not. The Swiss, whom Hitler called ‘insolent herdesmen,’ faced down the Nazi Germany juggernaut and Fascist Italy in military brinksmanship. Hannibal may have crossed the alps with an Army, but he couldn't do it now.

Switzerland has remained neutral since the 14th century, especially with major wars going on around it (World War 1 and 2). They’ve managed to keep an expceptionally low murder and crime rate, while maintaining the highest quantity of guns per capita in Europe. And they don’t just have handguns, they have fully automatic machineguns in their houses. Perhaps it works because of national unity, or perhaps it works because everyone is armed. The old saying is, “An armed society is a polite society.”

30% of Swiss homes have machine-guns present.
American progressives love the Swiss, but they are mystified that the country can be so peaceful and serene when every adult has a government issued machine-gun in their home. Military service in Switzerland is mandatory, therefore everyone with a machine-gun is also trained to use operate it and put ordnance on target. They are required to train and qualify with the weapon. Burglaries in Switzerland are rare. I wonder why?
Every adult male must complete 260 days of military service before the age of 34, during which period he keeps his pistol or assault rifle at home. After they are discharged, soldiers are entitled to keep the weapon for the rest of their lives for a small fee. Some 1.5 million of the estimated 2.5 million weapons in the country belong to, or have belonged to, the army.
It's only idyllic because they're armed to the teeth.
While it's true that there is firearms violence in Switzerland, it's not as great as it is in England where all private ownership of firearms is severely restricted. Additionally in England, the knife is often used as a weapon of availability when the thug doesn't have a firearm.

In the United States, .02% of all firearms in the country are ever used in a crime. What happened to the rest of them? And what can be said about the people who use firearms in crimes?

It's simply no challenge to buy a firearm and ammunition in any nation in the world on the black market. All you need is the means to make the purchase. Laws don't protect people from that sort of activity. However, the toughest thug is forced to think twice before he invades a Swiss home where the occupant is armed with a machine gun and has been trained to use it.

No single law, no set of laws, can eliminate evil from the world or prevent every senseless act of violence in any society.

The Plague of Firearms Violence

Where can Americans go when they are fearful of firearms violence?

Where is their safe haven where the private ownership of firearms is dealt with by the imposition of long prison sentences?

Is there a country like this?

Le Bandera de Mexico
As a matter of fact, there is and it's just across the border to the south. It's time to cross the border and live and work in Mexico where firearms crimes are punished and honest citizens are prohibited from owning most types of firearms! It's time to visit the place where GUN CONTROL WORKS! Just read the laws and you too will be convinced.

Under Article 10 of the Mexican Constitution, citizens are accorded the right to possess semi-automatic handguns or revolvers of a caliber no greater than .380 (for home defense), rifles no greater than .22, and shotguns no greater than a 12-gauge (hunting and shooting when a member of a club). Anything bigger than those calibers is considered for exclusive use of the military and strictly forbidden for civilian possession, as defined by Article 11 of the Federal Law of Firearms and Explosives. These firearms must be licensed with the local police department. Licensing means that they can't get into the hands of criminals -- if there were criminals in Mexico.

These laws keep Mexican citizens safe and they will keep you safe too when you decide to move your family to that paradise that is Mexico.

Drug cartels are simply poor attempts at propaganda by the conservative American press. Yes, some poor people do move drugs, but they are your friends and they mean you no harm. All of the reports of organized crime bandits in Mexico are fabrications. Ignore these lies, renounce your American Citizenship and move to Mexico where you too will feel safe, wrapped in a blanket of legislation.

If you don't believe me, visit the Mexican Tourism Board. There you will learn of the rich culture in Mexico without any mention of violence or criminal conduct. Would those people lie? Cast off your preconceived notions. You can walk the streets of any city in Mexico at any time without fear because of their legal restrictions that prohibit citizens from carrying firearms.

You can play these tunes while reading this blog:

Memorize the following so that you can share your love with your amigos de Mexico: Yo soy amigo de Obama!

Make your decision now to move to Mexico
and save yourself and your family through
the miracle that is firearms legislation

I understand that you may not want to move as far as Mexico to be safe. The city within a State with the most restrictive firearms ownership in the nation is the peace haven of Chicago, Illinois, home to President Obama and his senior staff. People walk the streets of Chicago without fear because the gun control legislation keeps them safe. Any questions? Contact

Be One -- or -- Do One

The liberal argument in favor of gun control is driving women (and possibly a certain class of beta male) to find police officers and military warriors to be their companions. After all, when all firearms are outlawed and the only people with firearms will be outlaws and the police, how will women find solace through the dark, cold night?

On Euripides' blog post Our Culture of Violence, he explores failed roots of the progressive movement and their mania over firearms control to legislate safety.

Yes, you could marry a stock broker or a politician, but when the chips hit the table, they are more likely to be hiding behind you and using you as a human shield against a gun wielding freak.

Society is not all unicorns and rainbows and when there is trouble, statistics show that women are more likely to be victims. Attractive women in particular become victimized by criminals who flaunt the law. Criminals in the new Obama World will find comfort in the fact that they are (almost) the only ones armed. Attractive women have one alternative to succumbing to senseless violence -- find an armed warrior.
(note: not all police officers or military people are warriors - and while you can find warriors outside of their ranks, but if the Democrats get their way, they won't be armed)
(Attractive) women in the new ObamaNation have only three options in a land where honest people are completely disarmed:

  • Become a victim
  • Be a warrior
  • Do a warrior
It should help with the whole law enforcement recruiting effort...

Is Paragould REALLY a War Zone?

Paragould, Greene Co., Arkansas is located in what President Obama termed, "fly over country" (meaning that the Obama Administration doesn't care about it), and many who read this blog may not know where Paragould is. But apparently the conduct of the people there warrants a paramilitary 'occupation' of sorts.

Paragould is located in northeast Arkansas at the intersection of Hwy 412 and 49, approximately 88 miles northwest of Memphis, TN. As odd as it might seem, I drove through Paragould two years ago and nothing indicated that the place would warrant the sort of attention that it's getting from law enforcement. Historically, it was a railroad crossroads (deriving its name from Railroad Barons).

The 2010 US Census pegged its population at 26,000. There are roughly 10,000 residences in Paragould. The median income is $31,000 per year and the population is 98% white.

Arkansas State University - Paragould, Arkansas Northeastern College, Black River Technical College and Crowley's Ridge College are all located in Paragould.

One could reasonably infer that not all that much out of the ordinary happens in Paragould.

What is Happening in Paragould?

The Paragould Daily Press reports it this way:
In response to a recent increase in crime, Paragould Mayor Mike Gaskill and Police Chief Todd Stovall offered residents at a town hall meeting Thursday night at West View Baptist Church what could be considered an extreme solution — armed officers patrolling the streets on foot.
Stovall told the group of almost 40 residents that beginning in 2013, the department would deploy a new street crimes unit to high crime areas on foot to take back the streets.
"[Police are] going to be in SWAT gear and have AR-15s around their neck," Stovall said. "If you're out walking, we're going to stop you, ask why you're out walking, check for your ID. They may not be doing anything but walking their dog," he said. "But they're going to have to prove it."
Has the City of Paragould suspended the US Constitution because of the 'crime wave'? Maybe so. It's interesting to note that the nature of the crime wave that would cause the police to question somebody out walking their dog innocently -- hasn't been discussed. As I understand it, there have been some residential burglaries. In most towns in America the police would handle that the way they handle this sort of crime, not so, it seems, in the 26,000 person town of Paragould.
Stovall said he did not consult an attorney before announcing his plans to combat crime. He even remained undaunted when comparing his proposed tactics with martial law, explaining that "I don't know that there's ever been a difference" between his proposals and martial law.
Stovall said task force members would not even be required to be looking for a specific suspect before stopping citizens on the street. "Anyone that's out walking, because of the crime and the fear factor, [could be stopped]," he said. Should an individual not produce identification, Stovall said his officers would not back down. Individuals who do not produce identification when asked could be charged with obstructing a governmental operation, according to Stovall.
"I'm hoping we don't run across [any] of that," Stovall said. "Will there be people who buck us? There may be. But we have a right to be doing what we're doing. We have a zero-tolerance. We are prepared to throw your hind-end in jail, OK? We're not going to take a lot of flack."
I called the Greene County Sheriff's Office (870) 236-7612 and the deputy I spoke with refused to comment on the actions of the Paragould Police Department. The Sheriff oversees the towns of Delaplaine, Lafe, Marmaduke, Oak Grove Heights and Paragould. I asked if the crime wave that has Sheriff Stovall resorting to such drastic measures extended beyond the city limits of Paragould. The deputy cleared his throat and said, "no."

I Spoke to a staff adjutant to Lieutenant Brant Tosh, Company F, Arkansas State Police, who didn't respond to questions about the crime wave in Paragould. He said that they had no plans to deploy additional personnel to Paragould. There is a multi-jurisdictional crime task force that can be called upon to deal with specific problems within Arkansas, but LT Tosh's spokesperson didn't say that they'd be sent to Paragould to interrogate people walking their dogs.

It would seem that Sheriff Stovall (dressed in his SWAT outfit) will be forced to cut off tentacles of the octopus of crime all by himself in crime-ridden, blighted, Paragould.
