Review of the News

A Review of the News for August 17 , 2013

Obama's Good-Bye Tour

CNN and MSNBC plan to tout their new Hillary Clinton mini-series as she begins her three year climb to the White House. The Republicans push back.

Meanwhile, Vice President Joe (Slow Joe) Biden may be regretting the second round of hair plugs and capped teeth because he would seem to be the side show. (who cares?) Still, with Barack coasting into the sunset, golfing and jet setting at public expense, those who would be king/queen are posturing themselves. (Biden...really? Apparently so...)

September 11 - Muslims Remember Benghazi (a triumph?)

A mass demonstration, referred to as the Million Muslim March will descend on Washington DC on September 11. Some cynics are calling it a "shout out" to the terrorists who swept over the US Embassy in Benghazi last year, killing four. Remember Hillary Clinton, the Bitch of Benghazi? I don't think that she'll be at the march, but you can be certain that all of the marchers would vote for her were she to run for President in 2016.

Other cynics disagree and say that the Benghazi Massacre is not the purpose of the march at all. They suggest that Muslims are marching because the 9/11/01 terrorist attack was nowhere near as successful as the hijackers had hoped. The death toll at the Pentagon was disturbingly low to Muslims worldwide and infidel passengers caused Flight 93 to crash before it reached the White House. The Million Muslims are said to be calling for a more effective killing spree next time.

The demonstration's name changed a month ago to "Million American March Against Fear," but the name did not seem to gain much traction and has apparently reverted back to its original title.
(Fox News) American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC), which is organizing the march, claims Muslims nationwide have been the victims of anti-Islamic bigotry in the years following the Sept. 11, 2001, Al Qaeda terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people on American soil.
To the "Religion of Peace", I can only suggest that you will be judged by your actions. And taken as a whole, that is a very dismal record.

My message to the Million Muslim March in a language that they might be able to understand:
NBC Mini-Series "Hillary" Sneak Peak
(Yahoo) The miniseries about the once, and possibly future, presidential candidate will "recount Clinton's life as a wife, mother, politician and cabinet member" from 1998 to the present, an NBC statement said.
Titled "Hillary," it will start with Clinton living in the White House while her husband is serving his second term.
Sort of like Uncle Joe
Stalin, with lipstick?
Isn't it interesting that the story begins after the Monica Lewinsky scandal? It begins after Vince Foster's "suicide"? It begins after White Water? It begins with her transformation from coddled First Lady to scammed-in Senator from New York.

Is anybody taking any bets that nothing to do with Benghazi will be included in the Hillary Clinton story?

(Yahoo opcit)  NBC announced three other miniseries, including remakes of horror tales "Rosemary's Baby" and Stephen King's "Tommyknockers." If what Yahoo writes turns out to be true, maybe the Hillary mini-series will be good for NBC. I have always considered Hillary Clinton's life to be somewhere between Rosemary's Baby and Tommyknockers.

Abuse/No Abuse

Is the National Security Agency abusing the public trust and violating the provisions of the Fourth Amendment by spying on Americans in the US? Sure they are. Why? Because they can. Is Edward Snowden a criminal? Yes, he violated his oath. Is President Obama lying to the American people about the whole sordid mess?     --- what else is new?
(Fox News) Newly uncovered documents directly challenge statements made by President Obama and other officials who insisted that the National Security Agency was not abusing its authority or knowingly violating Americans' privacy.

The Washington Post reported on an audit and other secret documents that allegedly show the NSA broke privacy rules and overstepped its authority thousands of times since it was granted new powers in 2008.

The May 2012 audit specifically tallied 2,776 incidents from the prior year where communications were improperly gathered and handled. Some of the alleged abuses were inadvertent, stemming from typos and other errors, while others were more severe.

Yet Obama, in a press conference held last Friday, claimed there were no "abuses" of the system.
The real story here is not whether the NSA is evesdropping on a crazed American Muslim who plans to blow something up without benefit of FISA approval. It's whether or not the President and the Democratic Party are using the NSA as their cat's paw to work 'political magic'.

As offensive as any Fourth Amendment violation is and as unnecessary as it is (simply get the court order for a Title 3 wiretap - not rocket science and not difficult to get with adequate investigation and cause), the opportunity for political shenanigans is considerable. And we know that the Chicago crew is not shy in that department -- no, not at all.

The Clinton Foundation

A foundation built on sand? (NY Times takes a shot) Reading the whole article can be instructive. Essentially, Hillary is going to use the Clinton Foundation as the platform for her Hillary 2016 presidential run and some are worried that it will "run" the foundation onto the rocks.
In 2007 and 2008, the foundation also found itself competing against Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign for donors amid a recession. Millions of dollars in contributions intended to seed an endowment were diverted to other programs...The foundation piled up a $40 million deficit during those two years, according to tax returns. Last year, it ran more than $8 million in the red.
Both Bill and Hillary are rainmakers and they can rake in hundreds of millions of dollars each year from eager donors. The endowment drive this year is said by the article to be a dry run for the 2016 campaign. (called "dragging the sack")

Huma Abedin Weiner, wife of New York mayoral candidate Anthony D. Weiner is currently part of Hillary's staff of seven. If Anthony (Carlos Danger) Weiner doesn't win the mayor's chair, I can only assume that he'll get some highly paid slot in the Clinton Foundation to "sit this one out". Nobody wants a rotten weiner hanging around a presidential campaign.

Reid is Worried...about race

According to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., interviewed last week by KNPR in Las Vegas, Republicans are obviously "doing everything they can to make him fail." And Reid says, "I hope that's based on substance and not the fact that he's African-American."

Reid can rest easy in the knowledge that his fervent hopes are fulfilled. Opposition to the president, whose Gallup approval has dropped to 39%, has nothing to do with his race and everything to do with the substance of his policies.

  1. I like, "The Bitch of Benghazi", I hope it sticks.

NSA - I don't know enough to comment....except...usually the audits are accurate, but the description in the public of the findings is not. For example: "Over collection" can mean NSA asked for dates inconsistent with telephone billing cycles, so the phone company just gave them everything. Other agencies (or maybe just one Bureau) have teams of people in Washington pouring over this stuff, just to make sure there are no abuses. Just as the ATF and DEA probably don't cross their Ts and dot their Is (or vice versa for ATF), there may be no such mechanism at NSA.

    Okay, I had a comment...

    1. The phone company has everything on an automatic feed to NSA. It's not like a grand jury subpoena. So I don't know if I get your over-collection having to do with billing cycle mess-up's. The problem that NSA has now is that for the first time since NO SUCH AGENCY turned the lights on, the spotlight is on them. And I'm sure that the bulk of the audits are micromanagement. However, we all know that there are ways to examine data outside of the audit channel. And therein rests the bulk of the problems. Nobody knows how much people did or didn't do.

    1. There will be a number of people who will vote for her because she's a woman and will look no further. It's not all that different than the Obama scenario where "content of character" won't enter into anything.
