Father's Day Musings

My father passed away as a result of a head-on traffic accident two days after Christmas in 1987. My step mother had been driving, they hit clear ice and that, as they say, was that. Though there is no use pining (even though I do) for those we loved whose chairs are empty, they clearly helped make us who we are. It's not only genetics, but the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.

I'd like to think that were my father to visit me now that he wouldn't be disappointed in who and what I became.

My father fought in World War 2, had four children as I have, loved Ronald Reagan and had absolutely no regard for the communist political system or any who upheld it. Therefore you can only imagine what he'd say if he was here now. Likely the same thing that I say.

To absent fathers: Thank you!

To present sons: Carpe Diem!  -- Sic transit gloria mundi!
