Review of the News

Slow Joe's Advice

First, let me say that anyone who takes Joe Biden's advice on anything has to be every bit as stupid as Biden. However there is one man who is employing the BIDEN DEFENSE to justify his actions:

Since Vice President Joe Biden is the self-proclaimed "gun control czar", should the defense hold water in a court of law?

XpressWest Doomed?

Senator Harry Reid has long been a proponent of a proposed high-speed train connecting suburban California to Las Vegas. It was a plan to connect gamblers with a popular gambling destination at federal expense. TheTransportation Department halted the review of what would have been its largest taxpayer loan in history. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood informed developer XpressWest that he would "suspend further consideration" of the company's request for a $5.5 billion federal loan.

I can only offer the opinion that XpressWest must not have offered President Obama a large enough contribution to his presidential library. (that's how these things work) $5.5 billion is not even a tenth of what we've spent on Green Energy boondoggles that have gone bankrupt.

That's how they roll...

At least five retailers with deep ties to New England will not sell the Rolling Stone magazine featuring an unsmiling, scruffy Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on its cover. The picture, which accompanies a story titled "Jahar's World," shows the 19-year-old terrorist with his long, curly hair tousled, reminiscent of the magazine's iconic shots of rock 'n' roll royalty like The Doors' Jim Morrison and Bob Dylan.

Conservative blogger Pam Geller (Atlas Shrugged) responded with her own suggested entry to Rolling Stone's iconic covers (right).

In so much as Rolling Stone seems enamored by Muslim terrorists who slaughter the innocent for shits and giggles, adding the London beheader to the list only makes sense. Future Rolling Stone covers could include such greats as Fort Hood Terrorist Nidal Hasan, who murdered his fellow brothers and sisters (including pregnant women) in arms all for Islam.

The latest craze in deer hunting

(link) Colorado residents don't want people hunting deer by using drone aircraft to find and presumably slaughter illusive deer. My first thought would be, "who'd use a drone"? But then again, people being people -- sure, it makes some twisted sense.

As one of those hunters who use a vintage flintlock Brown Bess musket or archery to hunt for the most part -- to give the deer the greatest chance of escape, it's not my style. However I have seen million dollar motor homes pulling trailers with millions of dollars in ATV's and equipment pull into camp while hunting for that trophy buck. I find it to be unsportsmanlike.

Follow the Bread Crumbs

The chief counsel’s office for the Internal Revenue Service, headed by a political appointee of President Obama, helped develop the agency’s problematic guidelines for reviewing “tea party” cases, according to a top IRS attorney. The question is where the bread crumbs lead. If you're reading this, I suspect that you know the answer.

A friend of WoFat (fellow blogger) and mine said:

When I got home from playing golf today, I discovered a note that my wife had written attached to the refrigerator with a magnet. The note said, "It's not working, I can't take it anymore!! Gone to stay with my Mother."

I opened the fridge, the light came on, and the beer was cold. What the hell is she talking about?

Cold War Navy Porn

Members of the US Navy worked day and night to figure out better and quicker ways to destroy the Soviet Navy. Some considered it a hobby, others an obsession. And the war ended, and the nature of people being what it is, it really just changed form.

For those of us who remember the days--

Whiskey on the rocks...
Soviet era Whiskey Class submarines (in disrepair)
(above) a few pig boats that Old NFO failed to send to Davey Jones.

Geyser and Morshansk are Tarantul Class Missile Boats
I always thought that a sea state of 4 would capsize these top-heavy missile boats. You can say what you want about the Russians, but they always liked to pack on the armament.

IL-38 (May)
Posted for NFO's benefit. (P-3C wanna-be)

Moskva - Slava Class Russian Guided Missile Cruiser.
This bad boy is a ship killer.
Admiral Panteleyev - Udaloy 1 Class Guided Missile Destroyer
