Finding Motivation

I have to find a reason to do things. Simply needing to do 'things' is never sufficient because there are always menial chores that you can make for yourself. Thus, I'm not a tinkerer in the classic sense.
Don't get me wrong, I can tinker endlessly with firearms, sharpening wicked knives or cleavers like tomahawks.
Getting up and doing things that I don't want to do because they are difficult, dangerous or are likely to cause me a measure of discomfort demands a casus belli (cause for war).

Grandchildren and building for their future provides that motivation. So when I need to remind myself, that is how I kick it into gear. I see those little guys going to the sort of university that I could never afford and turning the key on the sort of house that I had to live a whole life of pain before I could afford... and think that it might be worth it.
In dwelling, live close to the ground. In thinking, keep it simple. In conflict, be fair and generous. In governing, don't control. In work, do what you enjoy. In family life, be completely present. - Tao Te Ching

MEANWHILE...
I've been traveling for work and will continue that. Outside of the US, away from urban centers, it's difficult to check the blog. Most of what you've read for the past week or so and will be reading for the next while, has been pre-posted and scheduled on the blog. I appreciate your comments and will fire back from time to time, when I surface. Thanks.

TEASER

Next week you'll see more writing on this blog - Conduct Unbecoming - Presented in three parts. It's a teaser for the novel NO WAY TO LOSE: A Novel of Cartel Wars, sequel to Bloody Mexico and The Old Whore. (Thanks Brighid for your encouragement) The Novel isn't complete, but I'm working on the polishing part/editing, which is roughly akin to pulling teeth. When I travel, there is always time for reflection and writing.
