I read some reviews of Interstellar before I watched the movie and they almost kept me from going. I enjoyed the movie, notwithstanding those reviews. It's SCIENCE FICTION, which means that you need to suspend reality and some prejudice before you can enjoy it.
The play on the environmentally devastated Earth is right out of the Al Gore playbook, but it is still part of the plot and in the sense of the totality of the film, it works. I'm not suggesting that you believe the global warming/climate change/now "climate disruption" hoax. Just that you go with the film. The acting was good, the cinematography was 10 out of a possible 10 and the plot worked as well as any Star Trek/Star Wars/Promethius, etc. SciFi plot has.
If you can't get your head around science fiction, I doubt that you'll enjoy the film.
I give it 8 out of a possible 10 and suggest that if you enjoy SciFi, you'll enjoy the movie.
Between the two you get a relatively good perspective of the film.
