Leakers

What do we do about Leaks?

There was a time when people who did that were hung or shot, or shot and then hung.

Today, the disgruntled who leak, have been given very mild and almost rewarding treatment under the Obama Administration. Bradley Manning was given gender reassignment surgery at taxpayer expense and then had his sentence commuted.

Some people would ask, "why leak?"

Others look at the curious case of Bradley Manning and ask, "why not?"

Irrespective of how it's accomplished, the Trump Administration has a very daunting task ahead if it hopes to curb what is almost a cottage industry with Wikileaks.

My sense is that hanging traitors by the neck from light poles in Washington DC and let the crows peck their eyes out would work, but that's not how things work. Waterboarding suspected leakers would work too. I'm old fashioned that way. The Mexicans and the Egyptians have a way of getting at the truth. I've had experience with both nations in practical terms. Maybe they could do it for us on a contract basis - being members of a minority group, it would be politically correct!! Of course under the progressive doctrine of racial and national fluidity - we are all Egyptians and Mexicans.

    1. Gasp!....threaten a bureaucrat's pension? Have you no shame? Have you no decency?

Sounds good to me. Throw a few 30 year government administrators out onto the street for their careless and cavalier handling of sensitive material, make sure the cameras are rolling, and the rest will fall in line quickly.

      Worked for Vlad the Impaler.

    2. Race, you have a cruel, sadistic streak. When you were a boy, I'm sure that you tormented Patti (sister). It's all coming clear now.

Fredd, I agree, taking the pension is a fate worse than death and I'm sure that some of the Supremes would say that it constitutes cruel and unusual punishment.

  3. LL, what I don't understand are people who identify as women after drinking a few pints of gender fluid and then KEEP their plumbing. Maybe I'missing something, but somehow that doesn't seem right.

    1. You don't grasp the progressive mind fully. The key is gender fluidity (and racial fluidity and national fluidity). Take NY Law for example. You can self-identify as one of up to thirty-one genders and you are able to change genders every day. If you have masculine courting tackle you'll want to keep it even if you're self-identifying as female, because you might want to go back to being male the next day.

The same could be said for race. You can self-identify as being black and can march against slavery as a member of an oppressed minority one day and then have the chauffeur drive you home to the Hamptons to hang with Mummy and Daddy the next day as a rich white person.

Technically you could be a Muslim and a Jew on the same day but you need to change your traditional clothing.

Think of the Orwellian concept of Doublespeak. Doublespeak is language that deliberately obscures, disguises, distorts, or reverses the meaning of words. Doublespeak may take the form of euphemisms (e.g., "downsizing" for layoffs, "servicing the target" for bombing, Affordable Care Act for something unaffordable), in which case it is primarily meant to make the truth sound more palatable. Doublespeak disguises the nature of the truth. It fits in nicely with gender and racial fluidity.

I have to dust off Orwell every year or so to refresh myself with the game book...

    1. I'd like that very much.

I doubt that the miserable b@stards who leaked would be very happy about that. Horror and moral terror - that would clearly include removal of pensions.

  7. My mom and I were recently discussing the "progress" society has made towards removing all effective punishment.

She said my brother was once sentenced to A WHOLE WEEK of AEP (alternative education program)-- meaning he had to go to the "alternative" school with gang members and delinquents-- because he got caught shooting rubber bands at a kid who had been bullying him. My brother was a quiet, small-framed, straight-A's, nice kid-- hardly a threat to society-- but he behaved badly and got punished.

25 years later, a teacher wouldn't even bat an eye at that level of "disturbance" in the classroom. (Probably because if they responded the way they did to my brother, they'd be fired in response to parental outrage over anyone daring to discipline their precious spawn).

People bemoan "kids these days", but can we expect them to have any values when, at all levels, society denies that any behavior is "wrong"? If you want something to be right and true and acceptable... then by golly, it is! The kids have imbibed that message and feel just as entitled as their spineless, prog parents.

And if you're one of the rare, conservative parents, good luck finding a village to help you raise your children. It's you against EVERYONE. In another 25 years, it'll be the conservative parents hanging from light poles with crows pecking our eyes out. We're among the last holdouts in this psychotic society because one's private home is nearly the only place remaining where one can declare actual Truths without being sued.

    1. We can lay a cable between the light poles and string them up from the cable, making better use of space.

    2. excellent point, although the bloat inherent in the critters could require reinforcing the poles and cable.

    3. Make sure that we use American-made steel cable, not the cheap Chinese stuff. If they were to fall, it would leave a real mess.

  9. I used to believe the way most of your commenters do, however, now I want to see all of these alphabet agencies held to the law as written in the Constitution, not some FISA rule or court decision. Anyone who would take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and then act as they have deserve the punishments you want, but, not the people willing to show how the Constitution is being violated.

    1. Everyone must be held to the law. That's why there is a law. If we're not going to do that, we need to simply repeal the law. At least that's how I see it, but I'm old fashioned.
