Islam and Female Genital Mutilation

I don't know why it is that today, the term "hate speech" is tossed around every time somebody on the left hears something that makes them uncomfortable. Many Muslims feel disrespected when practices common in Islam are explained, such as the right of a man to beat his wife so long as the rod isn't bigger around than this thumb and he doesn't hit her in the face. This discussion isn't hate speech. It's merely an informative discussion of a practice that is common in the Muslim world.

The argument runs that if a woman can't feel sexual pleasure, she's better off. This practice is usually undertaken by family members or by a daya before a girl reaches pubescence.

Warning: Graphic

Practitioners cite benefits to home-surgical cliterectomies for religious purposes.  Welcome to Islam.
