Spider Rock

Spider Rock area / Canyon De Chelly - This spire towers 750 feet above the canyon floor. It is thought by the Diné (Navajo) that spider woman lived on top of this spire. I asked the Navajo if she could spin a web - any size - and could catch thieves just like flies.

Likely not.

Disappointing.

    1. There are a lot of such places in the Southwest. In this case, it's located in the Indian Nations. And after the nuclear testing that went on in the 1960's, who am I to say that you WOULDN'T be bitten by a radioactive spider?

  2. It looks like a good challenge for a rock climber. Is there a law, other that common sense, against climbing those formations?

    1. Indian Nations, sacred land, they frown on that sort of thing.

Ms. Michelle “ for the time in my life I’m proud to be an American “ Obama stands there, a multi-millionaire elite who lives in a mansion, with a fabulous education from Princeton and Harvard, and yet she advocates for bigger government, higher taxes, more government control over your lives – while remaining immune and exempt from the consequences of her exhortations.]

  5. Spider Woman Rock is memorable site in a land of memorable sites.
I hope you took the tour into Canyon De Chelly to visit the cliff dwellings.
My time there did not permit that experience.

  7. Beautiful locale. Beware of Spider Woman. Wasp Woman, her sister-in-law, is a real biotch, too I hear
